Following Monday’s trip to North Providence, the Cumberland boys soccer team returns home Wednesday night to face Barrington.
Barrington has opened the season playing competitive soccer, but Cumberland’s record does not tell the entire story of its early campaign. The Clippers have endured a difficult schedule and have shown stretches in which they can compete with quality opponents. The next step is sustaining that execution from the opening whistle through the final minutes.
Cumberland will need to match Barrington’s organization while playing decisively when opportunities develop. Winning challenges in the midfield and limiting dangerous counterattacks could give the Clippers a chance to dictate the flow of the game on their home field.
The JV match begins at 5 p.m., followed by varsity at 6:30 p.m. at Cumberland High School.
