The Cumberland Clippers boys soccer program travels to North Providence on Monday for a varsity and JV doubleheader against the Cougars.
Cumberland’s early record has not fully reflected the competitiveness of its play. The Clippers have faced a demanding opening schedule and have continued working to turn sustained stretches of good soccer into complete-game results. Monday presents an opportunity to convert those lessons into something tangible against a North Providence team that has also experienced an uneven start.
For Cumberland, the emphasis will be on controlling possession, staying organized defensively and capitalizing when scoring opportunities arrive. Road games often demand patience, especially early, but a strong start could allow the Clippers to settle into their preferred pace.
The JV game is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the varsity matchup at 6:30 p.m. in North Providence.
