The CHS Clippers will be traveling to the North Kingstown Skippers, for this weeks edition of, Friday Night Football.

Coming into the week, Cumberland and NK both have a lot to prove, each attempting to carve out their identity early in the ’26 campaign.

In Week 0, during the “preseason” game, La Salle Academy did what they do and beat another highly regarded football program—in this case, the Skippers. The normally competitive NK team was beaten handily, 34–7. They followed that with a Week 1 win over Central, nearly escaping, 13–6.

Cumberland earned a Week 0 win over the West Warwick Wizards, 13–6. The Clippers then lost their Week 1 matchup at home to St. Raphael Academy, 14–7.

Cumberland’s defense played well all game, with the exception of a blown pass coverage that resulted in a 71-yard touchdown thrown by All-State athlete Onassis Soriano, who moonlighted at quarterback on Friday night.

Cumberland’s offense eventually rebounded with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. On a possible game-winning drive, the comeback fell short after a red-zone snap miscue at the 5-yard line left the Clippers facing fourth-and-20 from the edge of the red zone. Cumberland also took a few desperation shots late but was unable to complete the comeback.

The Clippers have a dual-threat quarterback with the ability to make plays through the air and on the ground. The offense made mistakes but showed glimpses of being versatile and dynamic.

The team is led by captains Brady Smith, QB; Izik Supple, TE/LB; and Ethan Delgado-Rolland, WR. Other key contributors include Jacob Refino, OL; Jayden Rabbitt, RB; Emanuel Reyes, RB; and Nathan Goodrich, WR.

The Cumberland Clippers look to send a message at Anthony C. Perry Stadium in Week 2’s Friday night tilt.
