Give Cumberland a beautiful fall Saturday, and we know what to do with it. Get outside. Get to the fields. Take the long way home and enjoy a little of the town along the way. On October 3, we took full advantage.
Our CYSA Saturday brought the kind of youth-sports energy that makes a weekend worth following. The athletes supplied the great play and enthusiasm, competing hard and enjoying the chance to be out there together. There was plenty to appreciate beyond the final score: effort, teamwork, and kids finding their confidence in the game.
That is why these days belong in the highlights. A young athlete does not need a varsity jersey to deserve a little attention. Learning the game, making a good play, and coming back ready for the next one are all part of the story we want to tell at Cumberland Sideline.
A big thank-you goes to the Cumberland Youth Soccer Association staff, coaches, referees, and volunteers. Families see the games, but a Saturday at the fields takes work before the first whistle and after the last one. We appreciate the time and care that give our athletes a place to play and our community a reason to gather.
CYSA’s programs stretch from its youngest players through recreational and travel opportunities, with TOPSoccer also part of its offerings. There are different ways into the game, and that matters for a town full of kids ready to try it.
The community spotlight extends to Cumberland Youth Lacrosse, too. We want to keep making room for the athletes, coaches, and volunteers across our local programs—and for families who help us share those stories.
We also had a really good time talking with people along the sidelines. It was good to share what we’re doing with Cumberland Sideline and hear that same enthusiasm for CYSA, local sports, and our young athletes. Thanks to everyone who stopped to talk with us.
That’s where our Sideline Reporters come in. We can’t be at every field, but a lot of you are already there. A good clip doesn’t have to end in a goal. Send us the action, the effort, and the fun happening around the fields.
Send photos, videos, scores, and story ideas to cumberlandsideline@gmail.com. Include the team, date, and any player names or details you know so we can get it right. No special gear needed—just your phone and an interest in what’s happening.
And a shoutout to Neuro Brews and Palagis Ice Cream for the coffee and frozen treats. Always good to have both covered when you’re spending your Saturday at the fields.
After the fields, we kept the Saturday going around Cumberland, ending the day at Phantom Farms, pumpkin spice iced coffee in hand, apple cider donuts and all the simple fall vibes.
A beautiful day, athletes making the most of it, and a town worth getting out to enjoy. That is a Saturday we are happy to put on the sideline.
Every Game – Every Team – Every Sideline.
