Cumberland found the end zone through the air, on the ground, and in the return game Sunday, putting together a 42–0 JV victory that gave the Jr Clippers plenty of names to talk about.

And some of the biggest contributions came from players getting their opportunity in the second half.

Connor Messier contributed a receiving touchdown and a kickoff-return touchdown, while Bruno “Bam Bam” Vicente also found the end zone.

Hunter Kramer and Maddox Fitzsimmons each added a rushing touchdown as Cumberland spread the scoring around and gave the JV sidelines plenty to celebrate.

Coming off last week’s loss to North Providence, when promising possessions fell short of the end zone, this was a welcome response for the JV group. The offense and special teams put on a show, and the defense made sure the other side of the scoreboard stayed quiet.

The second unit handled the entire second half, taking its turn protecting the shutout. JJ Aponte made his opportunity count with a breakout defensive performance, making multiple tackles and making his presence felt.

That matters beyond the final score. Those players put in the practice time, too. Sunday gave them an extended chance to bring that work into a game, and Cumberland finished with the shutout intact.

Forty-two points made for a big afternoon. Seeing more of the roster help finish the job gave the Jr Clippers something else to take from it.

Now comes homecoming next week, and this group has plenty to feel good about heading into it. A big win, contributions throughout the roster, and another opportunity to take the field together in front of the home crowd.

Let’s bring that energy to the sideline, Cumberland.
