Cumberland’s Jr Peewee Clippers found some room to work Sunday, but holding onto those opportunities proved difficult against a good North Providence team.
The Jets earned a 20–0 win in a game where snap troubles and turnovers repeatedly interrupted Cumberland’s offense. Two lost fumbles and an interception stalled possessions, while North Providence’s No. 42 at defensive end and its outside linebackers made gaining ground on the edges a challenge.
Inside, Luca Demers and Jack Jodoin gave the Clippers something to build around. Both put together carries of five to ten yards as Cumberland tried to chip away between the tackles and keep its drives moving. There were productive gains. Stringing them together without a setback was the harder part.
Kason Parenteau supplied an early defensive bright spot. On North Providence’s opening drive, he intercepted a pass in the end zone, keeping points off the board and giving Cumberland possession.
That was the kind of answer the defense kept working to provide. The Clippers battled, but a couple of big runs by the Jets’ No. 41 changed field position and helped set up North Providence touchdowns.
Those bursts, combined with Cumberland’s interrupted possessions, made the difference. The Jets turned their opportunities into points, while the Clippers struggled to sustain the work their runners were putting in.
For Cumberland, the next step starts with cleaner exchanges and protecting the football. Demers and Jodoin showed the offense could find yards inside, and Parenteau’s takeaway showed the defense could answer. Giving those contributions a chance to carry into the next play is the work ahead.
