Cumberland High School’s junior varsity volleyball team came away with a pair of three-set victories over Cranston West, winning 2–1 on the road October 15 before repeating the result at home October 20.
The first meeting in Cranston came down to a deciding third set, which Cumberland secured to bring home the win. Five days later, the teams met again in Cumberland, where another three-set contest ended with the Clippers on top.
For a JV team, those deciding sets offer valuable experience. The match is even, the next stretch settles it, and both sides have a chance to finish the job. Cumberland faced that situation twice against Cranston West and came away with both wins.
Individual set scores were not available for either match.
