Cumberland’s boys JV soccer team didn’t need a crowded scoresheet to put together a winning week. One goal against Cranston West. One more against La Salle. Nothing allowed at the other end.

That was enough for two wins, and another step forward for a Clippers group that has now gone seven straight matches without a loss.

Wednesday’s October 14 meeting with Cranston West brought the setup, the finish and the shutout together. No. 15 Connor Lavelle earned the assist, No. 12 Jackson Silva supplied the goal, and No. 33 Myles Muzrall kept the Falcons off the board in a 1–0 Cumberland win. Silva’s finish settled the scoring, but Lavelle’s contribution and Muzrall’s clean sheet belong right alongside it.

The Clippers carried that same narrow margin through Saturday’s October 17 matchup with La Salle Academy. A first-half goal gave Cumberland the lead, and the Rams never found an answer on the scoreboard. Another 1–0 final moved the boys to 8–2–3 overall, with five shutouts during their seven-match unbeaten stretch.

When the margin is one goal, keeping the other side at zero makes all the difference. Cumberland did it twice this week.

The volleyball Clippers took care of their October 13 matchup with Chariho in two sets, opening with a 25–14 win before closing out a tighter second, 25–23. Chariho narrowed the gap considerably after the opener, but Cumberland still came away with both sets and a 2–0 sweep.

Boys JV soccer stands at 8–2–3 overall and 7–1–3 in league play, listed third by MaxPreps as of October 18.

This weekly recap will be updated as additional JV results are confirmed.
