The North Stars came away from their scoreless draw with Calcutt having shown they could win a defensive battle. Then the attack caught fire. North Cumberland beat Burrillville 6–0 on Wednesday and followed it with another 6–0 win on Friday against Blackstone Valley Jr. High. Two games since Calcutt. Twelve goals scored. None allowed.
North Cumberland rolled past Blackstone Valley Jr. High, 6–0, with four players getting on the scoresheet. Nick Cortez and Jake Hosney struck twice each, while Ilirian Xhuki and Ben Sequeira added a goal apiece. An anonymous Sideline Reporter caught one of Cortez’s goals on video and cheered him on from the sideline, giving us a front-row glimpse of the North Stars’ big afternoon.
And while the scorers were busy, goalkeeper Liam Lemire and the North Stars’ defense kept the other end locked down. The scoreless Calcutt draw, Wednesday’s win over Burrillville and Friday’s rout of Blackstone Valley are all part of a run of four straight shutouts. Four opponents, four goose eggs on the scoreboard. No opening, no breakthrough—just broken hearts and shattered dreams on the wrong side of the scoreboard.

That combination is becoming a problem for everyone else in the division. The goals can come from all over the field, and when a game turns tight, North Cumberland has the defense to hold its ground. The draw with Calcutt tested that resolve; then two six-goal bursts in three days showed how quickly the North Stars can shift from stubborn to explosive.
Next up is Woonsocket MS at North Cumberland on Monday, September 28, at 4:45 p.m. The unbeaten 5–0–1 North Stars have momentum, a back line that won’t budge and an attack picking up speed. Woonsocket gets the next chance to try to slow them down.
