CUMBERLAND, Sept. 24 — Cumberland’s girls volleyball team kept its momentum rolling Thursday night, sweeping Barrington 3–0 with the kind of connected, energetic play that has defined its recent run.

The Clippers took the sets 25–24, 25–11 and 28–20, according to the reported box score. After a close opening set, Cumberland seized control in the second, then finished the job in the third. The Clippers looked in sync throughout the match. Their energy never let down, and Barrington had a tough time matching it as Cumberland carried its winning form into another Division I contest.

Thursday’s result follows three straight victories: a five-set win at Portsmouth, a 3–1 win over East Greenwich and a 3–1 win over Prout on Tuesday. Against Prout, Cumberland answered a second-set loss and pulled out a tight third set, 26–24, before finishing the match. That ability to stay together through a challenge made Thursday’s team chemistry all the more encouraging to see.

Cumberland entered the Barrington match at 5–3 in Division I, listed fifth in the standings. The sweep adds another league result to that climb and brings Cumberland to 6–3 in league play, pending the standings update. With the season moving toward October, each win gives the Clippers more room to build on the progress they have made over the past two weeks.

Next up: Cumberland travels to South Kingstown on Monday, Sept. 28, for a scheduled 6:30 p.m. match. The Clippers have won four straight, and if Thursday’s energy travels with them, South Kingstown will have plenty to handle.
